New FAQs from Participants:
- On the judge’s scoresheet under the “Creative Brief(s)” section, "Sample Creative" is listed. What does this mean? Are you expecting creative work? If so, is it to be included in the brief or presented separately?
- The judging criterion doesn’t mention any requirement of research. Does that mean that research is not necessary, or that if done it will not factor in on the judges evaluation?
What kinds of marketing ideas are eligible for the Cadillac National
Case Study Competition (CNCSC)?
Any and all. Through the research you will be conducting, you will be able to determine
what is a good fit for that target market.
How do I enter the CNCSC?
You will need a professor to register for the CNCSC. If you have an independent
group of students that would like to participate, please contact Kyle Bicking
at 800.739.7476 ext 1332, or via e-mail at kbicking@edventurepartners.com
When does the CNCSC start and end?
January 2, 2007 is the first day of the CNCSC. All submissions must be received
no later than April 12, 2007. The case study may or may not take up the entire
quarter/semester class. This decision will be left to the professor to decide.
These dates are to accommodate those schools on both a quarter or semester academic
calendar. The top teams will be announced April 27, 2007 and final presentations
in Detroit, Michigan on May 23, 2007.
Is there a registration fee?
No. The CNCSC is free of charge.
How are teams formed?
Teams will be formed by the professor and made up of 3-5 students per team. You may NOT
have teams of more than 5 students.
Is there a limit to the number of team members?
Because only five (5) students will be flown to Detroit, Michigan to present their
case study if chosen as one of the top two case study submissions, it is required
that there are no more than 5 students per team.
Can I belong to more than one team? Can I submit more than one entry?
No. Each student can only belong to one team and only submit one entry.
Can my team change members once we submit our entry into the contest?
Yes. Team members may change throughout the CNCSC. We understand that some students
may not be able to attend the final presentation if selected. Therefore, the original
team members do not need to be the creators of that submission even though that
would be preferred.
Should my submission follow a specific format?
Yes. All submissions need to be in PowerPoint format. Feel free to use your own
creativity and add graphics, voice, hyperlinks and/or video. We will accept a burned CD or
DVD. Submissions over 30 slides will not be accepted.
Who will be judging the submissions?
Judges will be academic faculty from 4-year colleges/universities not participating
in the CNCSC.
What is the judging criteria for the submissions?
Please refer to the section titled “Judging Criteria” for detailed
information once you log in.
What happens to my submission?
You will not receive your submission back. All submissions will become the property
of Cadillac, Modernista! and EdVenture Partners.
Will my submission remain private? What about my ideas?
Your submission and ideas will become the property of Cadillac. It is possible
that Cadillac may decide to implement your ideas in their national campaigns. The
top submissions will also be posted to the CNCSC site for others to view.
When will the two (2) top case study teams be notified?
April 27, 2007. The top teams will be notified by phone and posted to the CNCSC
website.
When will the teams who compete at the Cadillac Headquarters be notified
on their placement?
Those teams competing at the Detroit presentations will be notified their placement
directly after the presentations.
Is there a time limit to the presentations in Detroit?
Yes. You will be given 25 minutes to present and 5 minutes for Q & A.
Is there a slide limit for the submissions?
Submissions may not exceed 30 slides.
How will the presentations work?
Up to five (5) students and one professor will be sent to Detroit,
Michigan for the presentations (all expenses paid). Two (2) top teams from both
the Undergraduate level and graduate level will be invited. Presentations are 25 minutes
and 5 minutes for Q & A.
What is the award?
$3,000 for first place and $1,000 for second.

New FAQs from Participants:
On the judge’s scoresheet under the “Creative Brief(s)” section, "Sample Creative" is listed. What does this mean? Are you expecting creative work? If so, is it to be included in the brief or presented separately?
Most creative briefs are not accompanied by creative samples. For this year’s case, students should fill out a detailed brief for each advertising component, and then create samples of what the advertisements may look like. Both the questions from the brief and the creative samples should be present in the PowerPoint presentation, but the order is up to the students.
The judging criterion doesn’t mention any requirement of research. Does that mean that research is not necessary, or that if done it will not factor in on the judges evaluation?
Research is not nearly as large of a component this year as it was in previous years. There will be standard secondary research completed, like reviewing Web sites, visiting dealerships, maybe even attending car shows. As for primary research, this case study does not require it. Students are free to pursue primary research, but should use caution when devoting slides to it. The inclusion of research should remain relevant to the case objectives and be used to help justify their strategies.
