What kinds of marketing ideas are eligible for the GM & U Marketing Challenge (GMUMC)?
Any and all. Through the research you will be conducting, you will be able to determine
what is a good fit for the target market.
How do I enter the GMUMC?
You will need a professor to register for the GMUMC. If you have an independent
group of students that would like to participate, please contact Jennifer Hershiser
at 800.739.7476 ext 1306, or via e-mail at jhershiser@edventurepartners.com
Is the case open to graduate students?
No. Only undergraduates are permitted.
Is there a registration fee?
No. The GMUMC is free of charge.
How are teams formed?
Teams will be formed by the professor and made up of 3 to 5 students per team. You may NOT
have teams of more than 5 students.
Is there a limit to the number of team members?
Yes. You may not have more than five (5) students per team.
Can I belong to more than one team? Can I submit more than one entry?
No. Each student can only belong to one team and only submit one entry.
Can the presentation team members change once we submit our entry into the contest?
Yes. Presentation team members may change for the final presentations of the GMUMC. We understand that some students may not be
able to attend the final presentation if selected. Therefore, the presentation team members do not need to be the creators of
that submission, even though that would be preferred.
Who will be judging the submissions?
Judges will be academic faculty from 4-year colleges/universities not participating
in the GMUMC.
What is the judging criteria for the submissions?
Please refer to the section titled “Judging Criteria” for detailed
information once you log in.
Will we be permitted to receive feedback from the judges?
First round scorecards may be requested by contacting the Case Manager after November 25, 2009. Final round scorecards for the top 3 teams will not be disclosed.
Will my submission remain private? What about my ideas?
Your submission and ideas will become the property of General Motors. It is possible
that General Motors may decide to implement your ideas in their national campaigns. The top submissions may also be posted.
When will the teams who compete at the General Motors Headquarters be notified
on their placement?
Those teams competing at the Detroit presentations will be notified their placement
directly after the presentations.
What is the award?
One (1) first place team will be awarded $3,000. One (1) second place team will be awarded $2,000. One (1) third place team will
be awarded $1,000.
